The 2025 “Sound of Jiangnan” Youth Original Music Carnival recently concluded in SIP. The event attracted over 100 entries from across the country, showcasing how young creators are driving innovative development of traditional culture through music.

A standout piece was Zhao Chen’s “Shengpu Xuanjuan Trap Mix”, which artfully blended the vocal part from traditional storytelling and ballad singing in Suzhou dialect with modern electronic trap beats. It won the “Golden Sound of Jiangnan” award.

“Father, Oh Child”, composed by Guo Tao, a music teacher at Dongshahu Primary School, also won an award. The work moved the audience with its heartfelt portrayal of inter-generational love inspired by the creator’s dual role as both a father and a son.

The “Sound of Jiangnan” Youth Original Music Carnival, initiated in SIP four years ago as the country’s first music event focusing on youth creativity in music, has evolved from an online contest into a holistic program comprising creativity workshops, ancient music discovery tours and live shows. It now attracts not only young music enthusiasts from SIP, and also those from around the country.
