Nexteer Automotive, a Michigan-based maker of steering and drive-line systems for autos, broke ground on its Asia-Pacific smart manufacturing headquarters in SIP’s APP Science & Technology Park on Nov 17. The project, scheduled to come into operation in July 2026, is expected to set a new standard for intelligentized, digitalized and eco-friendly industrial projects.

Nexteer Automotive is a global leader in steering and drive-line systems for autos. It set up a branch in SIP in 2007.
The new facility, with a total investment of RMB1 billion, will introduce the latest electric power steering and steer-by-wire technologies to meet demand in the sectors of aided and autonomous driving. After the new facility reaches the designed capacity, Nexteer’s total output value in SIP is expected to exceed RMB10 billion.
